Description
François d’Allaines is passionate about the Burgundy region and its wines. At the same time winemaker and merchant, he believes in ripe grapes and long wine maturation to reveal all the finesse and magic of the Burgundy terroirs. Whether the grapes come from his own vineyards (Santenay, Meursault, Chassagne-Montrachet, Pommard), or bought from trustworthy winegrowers, he knows when to step down so that the wines reveal their own personality. He does not produce wines to impress (fat, heavy, sweet, woody, alcoholic …) but always looks for wines of character, pure and elegant, authentic and easy to drink. After attending school in the hospitality business and then at the winegrowing high school in Beaune, François spent 3 years in a wine house in Beaune, specializing in vineyards. He founded his own company in 1990 to buy and sell wines that he personally selected.
Since 1996, the François d’Allaines company is located in Demigny, a few kilometers from Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet, very close to this mythical coast where are produced the greatest dry white wines in the world. Some of François’s associates, who are fond of fine wines, have given themselves the means to vinify wines from the best terroirs of Côte de Beaune, Côte Châlonnaise and Mâconnais. Since 1996, the company François d’Allaines ensures the wine making process of grapes and sometimes musts from beautiful soils. The wine-making process, aging and bottling are entirely under François’s control, in the property’s cellars in Demigny. His appeal goes to rich wines with a high potential of pleasure, combining fruity and fresh nose, delicacy and depth in the mouth. Balance and purity, essential for the terroir to express itself fully, remain the top priority.
“In addition to the grapes from our vineyard, we work from grapes or musts bought from winemakers we know. We produce white and red wines. Our secret? We bring the same care to small designations as to the most famous ones and in the absolute respect of the terroir. “Nobody, better than Michel Bettane summarizes our work: “A reliable source for smaller, unknown designations as thorough as the famous ones” BETTANE & DESSEAUVE Guide 2013
“The constant concern of the Allaines company: offer high-end wines with a great quality/price ratio.”
