Description
The “Domaine des Verrieres de Montagnac” was founded in 2004 by Walter Pizzaferre, the harvesting owner, and his associates, with the firm intention of perpetuating the history while bringing a touch of modern knowledge. It is an ambitious project that Walter leads with the help of his manager and cellar master, Olivier Groux, former cellar master of prestigious chateaux in Bordeaux, and Sébastien Pichot, grandson of Champagne winegrowers who made his passion his profession devotes his entire career to the development and management of wineries.
The vineyards of “Les Verrières de Montagnac” are located in the very recent appellation of Grès de Montpellier, turned towards the Mediterranean and backed by the Cévennes. Arid and clay-limestone soils. Old vines that root deep to collect the water and aromas that make the Domaine des Verrières’s wines unique.
“Agriculture raisonnée”, very little use of weed killer, severe pruning, completed with “green” work to control the yields and facilitate the ripening of the grapes. The plots are vinified separately, and each vintage has a personalized follow-up. Wine are aged in vats and French oak barrels.
