Description

The Bailly family has been managing the vineyard in Pouilly-sur-Loire for more that 200 years. Today, Domaine Bailly is run by Michel and his son David Bailly. They run a 15-hectare vineyard with Sauvignon Blanc grapes and produce mainly Pouilly-Fumé (AOC). The Domaine Michel and David Bailly covers the villages of Pouilly-sur-Loire and Tracy-sur-Loire.

“From our vines it’s the whole Loire that we can admire and beyond the village of Sancerre. The water divides us, and the wine unites us” says David Bailly.

A vineyard on the banks of the Loire. With a surface area of 15 hectares and from a geological point of view, argilocalcaire soils which offer a great variety of grounds for a great diversity… The vineyard is managed respecting traditions and the environment by favoring the plowing and the scratching of the soil. Traditionally vinified, the wines of the vineyard are fermented (indigenous yeasts) in thermo-regulated vats during a period of 15 days, initially at low temperature and finally towards 20°C. They are then aged on the lees of fermentation for 5 months with two brewing lees and finally stay in thermoregulated vats for 6 months to 1 year.
