Description
Château Brande Bergère, is located north of Saint Emilion. It stretches on a gravelly soil with a clay base that is very conducive to the vines grown there since the 18th century. Surrounded by woods, it is a magnificent point of view on the valley of the Dronne and the mound of Fronsac. The grape variety is mainly Merlot, associated with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Crops and winemaking methods are traditional, that is : Mechanical weed control without herbicides, severe and controlled vine size, leaf thinning, green harvest (elimination of non-producing clusters) and manual harvesting.
Produced on an exceptional terroir, these practices make it possible to produce colorful, robust wines with intense aromas and a generous and generous bouquet. This richness and power make it an excellent wine for cellaring. At the end of the 19th century, the property was entitled to mention on the label “Brande Bergère Nord Saint Emilion”. This appellation has now disappeared, but it recalls the affinities of this vintage with those of Saint-Emilion. The estate produces two red wines from the blends of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, Château Brande Bergère, a deep red wine, robust, supple and very elegant. The O’Byrne cuvée, a prestige cuvée made from the best plots, is aged in French oak barrels.
